Assistant Controller

Drew Technologies Inc., based in Ann Arbor MI, seeks a full-time Assistant Controller.

Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to provide support and assistance to the overall management of all finance related activities within OPUS IVS's operations including; preparation of monthly financial statements, KPI’s, budgets and forecasts for the US in line with Group requirements, provide local management with financial information, development and implementation of all financial controls within the operation and management of US cash and working capital.

The Assistant Controller will also play a key role in provision of business support to the US management team, identifying trends and efficiencies within the operation and assisting budget holders with the management of income, expenditure and forecasts against budget as well as assisting in its ability to demonstrate robust financial control and planning.

The role will include working with the Group Finance team located in Oxford, UK on monthly reporting as well as ad hoc day to day matters/projects as they arise.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide accurate monthly US management financial reporting pack in line with IVS reporting timetable.

Preparation & sharing of management information and key performance indicators for US management team, ensuring the data behind these is robust and providing explanations and analysis of developing trends.

Preparation of annual budget and forecasts for US, and continuous measurement and review of performance against them to provide detailed reporting of variances and recommended actions.

Preparation of weekly flash sales information for input to Group sales flash report.

Management of financial aspects of recurring customer revenue, monitoring and reporting of performance on agreed key renewal ratios, working closely with the sales team.

Assist in the management of all US based staff related payments including Expenses in line with company policy and salary information ready for payroll processing, together with all associated tax payments.

Reconciliation of all bank accounts and other Balance Sheet accounts monthly and resolution of any differences.

Liaise closely with colleagues on inventory control and monthly stock take, including recommendations to improvement in process and efficiency of stock management.

Day to day management and supervision of the Accounting Assistant and Account Level II, setting objectives and managing their performance and development and close liaison with those raising sales invoices.

Management of US suppliers in line with schedules and payment terms and processing of payments onto ledgers.

Weekly submission of US cashflow to Group to assist with Group cash management.

Management of all tax related matters including local, state and Federal taxes.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field.

Minimum of 7 years of direct finance analysis.

Management experience.

Must possess a strong attention to detail and an ability to analyze data in a manner that produces relevant useable information to the business.

Proven interpersonal skills, capable of supporting the business but also providing appropriate challenge to current practices and to propose changes within the business

The ability and strategy to get out of the “finance office” and into the operational and commercial activities of the organization to support and assist them while at the same time having the ability to challenge and find solutions..

Ability to understand and implement process that ensure the requirement to flag up issues as they arise and to Group Finance where appropriate.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate at all levels, with focused emphasis on being able to simplify and interpret financial and other data into a form that is easily understood by colleagues.

Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and able to work on own initiative.

Intermediate/Advanced level of Microsoft Excel.

Experience with Accounting packages, specifically Quickbooks.

Preferred Experience

Advanced Finance Degree.

Successful experience working in a global environment.

Physical Requirements

Able to travel domestically and globally.

Must be able to hear on a telephone and at times with others speaking.

Work is in a temperature-controlled office.

IT Technical Lead Engineer

Job Description

Drew Technologies Inc. is looking for an IT Technical Lead Engineer to manage and improve Drew Technologies IT infrastructure including the Remote Assisted Programming system. We are looking for a strong (take charge) leader that is methodical, detail oriented, self-starter with experience in network system development and administration. Previous experience working in a fast-paced design culture is required. This is a full time, on-site position with regular Monday thru Friday work hours and the ability to respond as necessary during off hours.

Primary Responsibilities

Create and manage a disaster recovery infrastructure that includes redundancy, backing up data and backup for our remote services application.

Improve IT security within the company.

Design, deploy, and maintain a wide area network of several thousand 4G connected Windows 10 computer systems used for automotive repair.

Improve and maintain Drew Technologies phone, network and computer systems that enable better delivery of remote services and work with our sister companies to communize systems.

Find solutions to issues experienced by our technicians as they deliver our remote services.

Validate changes / updates to the RAP system, design and maintain remote software updates.

Minimum Qualifications

A Degree in Network Engineering and relevant work experience

Strong technical leadership skills including designing systems and creating project plans to implement the systems and leading the IT team through the implementation.

Software Engineering Experience -- No current software programming skills but the understanding of how software works is critical.

Product Management Skills -- Ability to synthesize data, lead teams, compile product lifetime goals by looking at the large picture to assess current technology trends and updates.

Kiosk \ Embedded Software Engineering -- No Current software programming but the ability to understand the requirements of an embedded software platform as well as the complexities of running a kiosk and embedded windows system is a plus.

Problem Solving and Excellent Issue Diagnostics -- Ability to determine, diagnose, and detect critical problems in real-time. Able to identify problems and implement corrective processes.

Windows OS from 7 to 10 -- Great understanding of all things Windows; Application and Software Installation and Management.

Communications Skills -- Skilled at presenting technical and abstract concepts in a clear and concise way and able to synthesize and deliver complex information to diverse audiences. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Good understanding of networking including cellular connections.

Good understanding of data management including sending/retrieving data from the Cloud (AWS or equivalent).

Mobile device management including policy enforcement, managing applications, WiFi and cell settings, managing remote connections, kiosk software features.

Network management and disaster recovery tools.

Preferred Experience

Self-driven and self motivated

Excellent written / oral proficiency of the English language.

Ability to estimate project schedule and required resources

A passion for creating high quality products

High degree of personal integrity, a strong work ethic and a team player

Embedded Hardware/Firmware Engineer

Drew Technologies, based in Ann Arbor MI, seeks a full time Embedded Hardware/Firmware Engineer to develop and produce high quality automotive diagnostic and inspection products. Any qualified applicant will be considered.

Job Description

The selected candidate will create embedded diagnostic devices that conform to the SAE J2534 specification and work with our windows-based tablet diagnostic solutions. The optimal candidate will be a methodical, detail oriented, self-starter with experience in embedded product development, Previous experience working in a fast-paced design culture is required. This is a full time, on-site position with regular Monday thru Friday work hours.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop new embedded automotive diagnostic PassThru products (PC boards and firmware)

Develop Diagnostic systems including PC hardware, vehicle communication hardware and battery management hardware

Test new designs, find solutions to issues found

Create test systems for the new products

Implement new vehicle protocols and create test suites to confirm their operation

Minimum Qualifications

A passion for building quality products

Knowledge of hardware design and components including MPUs, UART, CAN, LIN, A/D, D/A converters, RAM/Flash memories, and other digital electronics

Design of processors, power supplies, communication, analog and digital electronic circuits

Thorough knowledge of the C programming language

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate concepts in software and schematic design

Must have written and oral proficiency in the English language and effectively present information and respond to questions from group

Can understand and utilize device datasheets and debug electronic circuits

Ability to estimate project schedule and required resources

Good time management skills including estimating project schedules and required resources

Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups

Preferred Experience

Has developed products using the ARM family of processors

Strong understanding of electronic design for EMC / EMI compliance

Can solder surface mount components onto a PC board

Problem solving skills including the ability to debug complex embedded software issues

Self-driven and self-motivated

Has knowledge about OBD (On Board Diagnostics)

High degree of personal integrity, a strong work ethic and a team player

Complete projects/tasks on a timely basis, according to commitments made

Familiar with batteries and battery maintenance circuits.

Familiar with the SAE J2534 specification

Familiar with USB, Bluetooth and Wifi connections

Familiar with OBD and Automotive diagnostic protocols
